The main activities of Geometricus d.o.o. focus on providing geodetic services. Unlike most other surveying companies in Croatia, whose operations are generally limited to basic land surveying (terrestrial geodesy and map products derived from such data), Geometricus offers a broader range of geodetic services, including hydrographic measurements.
To obtain authorization for performing advanced hydrographic surveys — essential for flood prevention in Croatia — Geometricus, with the support of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism under the Business Development and Innovation Croatia Programme, has implemented cutting-edge remote sensing technology.
The technology currently used in Croatia is often unsuitable for proactive water management. Traditional surveying methods (such as total stations, prisms, and leveling rods) require physical access to locations on the seabed or riverbed, which is not always possible. Moreover, due to these limitations, measurements are not performed regularly, significantly increasing the risk of floods.
By investing in state-of-the-art remote sensing technologies — including LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scanning, thermal imaging, and the creation of digital twins of seas, coasts, rivers, and lakes — Geometricus enables dynamic monitoring and maintenance of water bodies. This innovation plays a key role in flood prevention and sustainable water management.
The introduction of these technologies has already led to new business opportunities, partnerships, and clients, with expectations of employment growth and increased revenue and profitability in the near future.
